Dr Yoga is a pediatrician who works in the infectious diseases ward of Cipto Hospital. After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine of University of Indonesia in 1996, she worked in a local community health centre (Puskesmas) in Central Maluku for two years. Back in Jakarta, she did a pediatric residency at her alma mater and became a specialist in pediatrics in 2006. Dr Yoga is currently studying for a second degree, this time in the field of pediatric nutrition and metabolic diseases. This is a field about which she feels passionate, given the vital importance of good nutrition during the early stages of life.
Dr Yoga joined Cipto Hospital in 2007 and, although she is based in the infectious ward, her expertise in nutrition means that she also looks after patients in non-infectious wards. In 2008 she was awarded Best Article for an article she wrote in Sari Pediatri, an Indonesian journal about pediatrics,
Although born and raised in Jakarta, Dr Yoga’s mother is from Central Java and her father comes from West Sumatera, and it was her parents who inspired her to become a doctor.
She has three children, two girls aged ten and eight, and a boy of four.
Asked to comment on MCK’s support for the infectious diseases ward at Cipto, Dr Yoga said: “MCK is very helpful for us in the infectious ward. Many patients are indebted to you. MCK’s provision of a regular standby fund, your simple procedures and your fast action make it easy for the needy to obtain the funds they need.”
