Fathan is six years old and has just recently been diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer but doctors were unable to start with his chemotherapy treatment as he was malnourished.

Mary’s Cancer Kiddies were able to buy special milk for Fathan so he could put on weight. After 2 weeks of assistance, he is looking much better and now, able to start with chemo.

We are so inspired by these two teens (Bonnie Buchanan and Sahba Jackson) who have such a passion and big heart to raise funds for Mary’s Cancer Kiddies to help the underprivileged and sick children in Indonesia. More details below.

Please donate and help them reach their goals!

This campaign is in support of young cancer patients at Dharmais Cancer Hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia. The hospital has requested for a new Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. The children’s experience in the current unit is incredibly distressing as they share a ward with adults in critical conditions. It is also hard for the adults as the children are often crying whilst they are there.

What are we doing and why?

A group of students at the British School Jakarta will be shaving their hair on June 6th in an effort to raise awareness for cancer as well as for the hair to be made into wigs for adult cancer patients. Not only this, we want to raise as much money as possible to fund the PICU for Rumah Sakit Dharmais. We have decided to name this event “Hair For You”.

Two students from BSJ visited Rumah Sakit Dharmais and spoke with the children and teenagers there. After speaking with the children for a while, only if it was appropriate, the students asked for a photo. The moment they agreed the children put a beanie on their heads due to embarrassment. Our campaign “Hair For You” is designed to not only raise money for the PICU, but to show the children that it is okay to be bald and to encourage them to embrace not having hair.

We want to help this hospital as much as possible. Several fundraisers will be held at BSJ in the run up to the event but to make this goal a reality, we need as much outside donations and help as possible.

Where will the money go?

The money donated will go towards buying medical equipment for the much needed PICU via Mary’s Cancer Kiddies.

‘Hair For You’ has an aim to make the pain of cancer a little more bearable for these children and to show them that they are beautiful even without hair.

Even the smallest of donations will make an immeasurable difference in their lives.
